Bashkiria Health Ministry announced timing of making oncological diagnoses and start of treatment

In Bashkiria, the mortality rate from cancer for nine months from the beginning of the year decreased by 6.2%, the Minister of Health of the Republic Maxim Zabelin announced at a briefing session in the government. Payments to doctors for early detection of cancer, payments to specialists, and screenings had a good effect. Nevertheless, there is a shortage of primary care oncologists, and a shortage of diagnostic equipment, the head of the department stated.

Thus, cervical screening revealed 63 early cases and more than 700 cases of precancer. The colorectal screening revealed 263 cases of cancer at an early stage, precancerous conditions in more than 1.5 thousand people.

The following scheme for working with patients has been established in the region: at least 5 working days from the appointment with a therapist who suspects a dangerous disease to the appointment with a primary care oncologist; one working day – for taking a biopsy, 15 days - morphological examination; the diagnosis should be made after 21 working days, and within 10 calendar days - treatment should be started.

The highest mortality from malignant neoplasms is observed in Alsheevsky, Sterlibashevsky, Sharansky, Nurimanovsky, Fedorovsky districts - 291.5 - 235.8 cases per 100 thousand people. The average indicator in the republic is 176.3.
