Ophthalmologist from Ufa again broke Russia's record for number of operations per day

The head of the second microsurgical department of the Ufa Research Institute of Eye Diseases, eye surgeon Renat Kazakbaev broke the record of his colleague Gulnara Israfilova. In one day, the specialist performed 50 cataract phacoemulsification surgeries in the Yanaul Central District Hospital. Thus, the month-ago record was increased by seven operations.

“All operations for patients were performed absolutely free of charge, and neither the eye surgeon nor the Ufa Eye Research Institute does not have any financial benefits for the record number of operations with the highest quality,” the press service of the medical institution informs.

Doctors say that they are not chasing for quantity. This pace is due to the number of people who need operations and the large amount of work at the Institute, which does not allow for a long time to send ophthalmic surgeons to the regions of the republic.
