State Duma deputies supported idea of making day off on December 31

State Duma deputies supported the idea of making December 31 a day off. The last day of the year can be a day off, but provided that the total number of non-working holidays remains the same, the head of the State Duma Committee on Labor and Social Policy Yaroslav Nilov (LDPR) commented on the idea.

According to RIA Novosti, earlier the Governor of Tomsk Region Sergey Zhvachkin, at the request of women, postponed the working day from December 31 to Saturday, December 28. He was supported by the head of the State Duma Committee on Family, Women, and Children Tamara Pletneva (Communist Party).

“I think December 31 should be a day off while retaining the total number of non-working holidays”, the agency quotes Yaroslav Nilov.

The deputy also noted that the regions had the authority to make such decisions in their constituent entities.
