BMC production modernization will reduce wastewater discharge into Beloretsk reservoirs

UFA, 19 November 2019. /Bashinform News Agency/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/.
On November 18, a project to modernize steel-wire-rope production at the Beloretsk Metallurgical Plant (BMC) was considered at the next “Investment Hour” session in Ufa.
The project aims to improve production technology and reduce the impact of the enterprise on the ecology of the city, said the general director of the enterprise Sergey Fedorov. The total investment is 1.5 billion rubles, half of it is a target loan from the Industrial Development Fund. As a result of the production modernization, it is planned to reduce the discharge of wastewater into Beloretsky Pond and the Belaya River by a quarter. The modernization is planned to be completed by 2023.
Besides, the issue of signing an additional agreement with “Acrylic Salavat” LLC was discussed at the “Investment Hour”. Since 2016, the company has been implementing an investment project for the construction of a complex of units to manufacture acrylic acid and products based on it. The volume of investments amounted to 38.6 billion rubles. The project was not implemented as planned. It was necessary to refine the product quality to international requirements, the company director Araik Babayan explained. Due to the sanctions restrictions, the partners of the company curtailed their development programs for petrochemicals, and this forced to change the implementation program on-the-go and also affected the construction time of the facility. In this regard, as part of the supplementary agreement, it is required to adjust the terms for the provision of state support measures. The Government RB was instructed to complete the preparation of the document by December 10.
