Bashkiria residents presented national dishes in Nizhny Novgorod and performed in Pyatigorsk on National Unity Day

On the National Unity Day, November 4, guests of the Third Gastronomic Festival "Cuisines of the Peoples of Russia", which was held in Nizhny Novgorod, were able to try more than 150 dishes from 30 regions of the country, TASS reported. At the festival, there were "such rare dishes as open shortcakes and “tabani” cakes according to the recipe of the famous "Buranovsky grandmothers" from Udmurtia, pike cutlets and pancakes with honey from Bashkiria. One could also get acquainted with the cuisine of the peoples of the Altai Mountains. ”

On the same day, the capital of the North-Caucasian Federal District Pyatigorsk hosted a Festival of Songs and Dances of the Peoples of Russia “Russia Unites”. It is reported that Pyatigorsk residents were congratulated by artists from Vladimir, Yekaterinburg, Petrozavodsk, Ulan-Ude, Ufa, Elista. Ten farmsteads were also presented here, where people could try national cuisine, TASS added, explaining that the National Unity Day is celebrated in Russia annually on November 4, starting in 2005, and is set to commemorate the liberation of Moscow from Polish interventionists in 1612.
