Anton Sazonov returned to Ufa after five months of cycling across Europe

UFA, 5 November 2019. /Bashinform News Agency/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/.
The сycling traveler Anton Sazonov returned to Ufa after five months of cycling across Europe from east to west.
His expedition, called "Children of the World", started on June 12 in Ufa and ended on October 28 in Lisbon. A distance of 6800 km through 11 countries, through the Alps and Pyrenees, was covered in 134 days only by bicycle. Ufa bicycle activists and UTV journalists accompanied the traveler up to Samara, then Anton Sazonov moved alone. Many warm meetings took place on the way, it was the former compatriots living abroad who welcomed Anton so much.
The traveler had 509 paper letters with him from 29 schools of Ufa, Samara, Saratov, Izhevsk, Engels, Tolyatti, Tuymazov, Sterlitamak, the village of Pribelsky in Bashkiria and the village of Krotovka in the Samara Region. These letters were handed over to European students of 20 schools in 6 countries: Hungary, Switzerland, Austria, France, Spain, and Portugal. All contacts established in the schools of these countries will be transferred to Russian schools for further work.
On October 22, the traveler arrived in Lisbon, where he met with schoolchildren in the Russian training center Matryoshka and the Portuguese school, where classes of the Russian center are held. The leaders of the center organized the stay of Anton Sazonov in Lisbon.
He reached the extreme point of Europe, Cape Roca, together with the head of Rossotrudnichestvo in Portugal, Vladimir Luzgin. It is likely that the organization will become a partner of the traveler in the next expeditions.
Upon arrival in Ufa, Anton Sazonov plans to visit all schools, the children of which wrote letters to Europe, to hold a press conference on November 14.
The Children of the World expedition is being implemented by the “Planeta” non-profit with the support of the Bashkir branch of the Russian Geographical Society, the Committee for UNESCO Affairs of the Republic of Bashkortostan, funded by a grant from the President of the Russian Federation. Traveling to Europe is the second stage of the expedition, the first passed in 2018 through Central and Southeast Asia and finished on the island of Bali.
More information about the ongoing cycling expedition and the exact route can be found on the official website of the project www.childrenoftheworld.ru.
