Three USATU teams reached semifinals of World Programming Contest

Three teams of Ufa State Aviation Technical University (USATU) reached the semifinals of the World Programming Contest. The main round of the quarter-final competitions was held at the B.N. Yeltsin Ural Federal University (Ekaterinburg) on October 26. One hundred two teams representing 36 educational institutions from 21 cities took part in it.
Our team - God’s Choice was awarded the 2nd-degree diploma and a medal for success: Vadim Zinov, Ekaterina Stepanova, and Nikita Taratorin. Teams: I love Paris (Alexander Trubin, Ilya Pakhtusov, Igor Shepshelevich) and Oh sht im sorry (Almas Giniatullin, Emil Murtazin, Julia Sharipova) will also defend the honor of USATU. The semifinal of the contest will be held in St. Petersburg on November 29.
Representatives of USATU are students of the Informatics and Robotics Faculty (Dean Professor Nafisa Yusupova) and the General Science Faculty (Dean Professor Vladimir Vodopyanov). Teachers of Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics, associate professors Alexander Fridlyand and Julia Valiakhmetova, assistant Artem Ripatti (two-time World Cup finalist), supervise their training.
USATU students have been participating in programming competitions since 1996 and constantly show good results. In 2005, the team first reached the final of the world championship and was the 13th in Shanghai (China). And a year later, it became the bronze medalist of the final in San Antonio (Texas, USA). After that, the USATU teams reached the finals three more times: in 2010 (Harbin), in 2012 (Warsaw) and 2013 (St. Petersburg, 14th place).
The International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC, formerly ACM ICPC) is the world's largest student team programming Olympiad. Students from 2,500 universities in more than 100 countries compete for leadership. It has been held annually since 1977. Until 1989, mainly teams from the United States and Canada participated in the Olympiad, and outside the United States, the event was held for the first time only in 1999.
The team consists of three students with the following restrictions: they must be not older than 24 years, participate in the finals of the Olympiad no more than two times, and undergo regional selection no more than five times.
