Radiy Khabirov: Bashkortostan should properly mark Great Victory anniversary

In 2020, the 75th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War will be celebrated. In Russia, it was declared the Year of Remembrance and Glory by decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Today, the Head of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov at a meeting of the republican organizing committee on preparations for the anniversary of the Great Victory, noted that maximum attention should be paid to war veterans. Currently, 889 participants of the Great Patriotic War, 103 former juvenile prisoners of concentration camps, 324 invalids of the Great Patriotic War, 103 residents of besieged Leningrad, 23,788 home front workers and 9,784 family members of the dead war veterans live in Bashkortostan. Unfortunately, every year, their number is becoming less and less.

Radiy Khabirov noted that all war veterans should be provided with housing by the anniversary of the Victory date. Particular attention should be paid to lone war veterans who need daily support.

The "Immortal Regiment" campaign every year brings together more and more participants. This year, more than 400 thousand residents of Bashkortostan took part in it. Radiy Khabirov drew attention to the fact that the basic principle of the campaign should not be violated - its voluntariness.

The Head of Bashkortostan instructed to accomplish memorial places, obelisks, and monuments, to improve the adjacent territories.

“We are a unique republic, very rich in heroes, legendary warriors. In our republic, proper work is not being carried out to perpetuate the memory of our legendary guerrilla unit commanders in Slovenia and Czechoslovakia, Vafa Ahmadullin and Dayan Murzin. The names of many legendary personalities are connected with Ufa and Bashkortostan, in particular, the Hero of the Soviet Union, General Dmitry Karbyshev, who served as a military engineer in Ufa during the Civil War and his memory should be immortalized in the republic, ”said Radiy Khabirov.

The Head of Bashkortostan once again reminded that a monument to the commander of the legendary Bashkir Division Minigali Shaimuratov would be erected on Sovetskaya Square. The feats of our fellow countrymen who laid down their lives on the fronts of World War II should be perpetuated for descendants.

“The Great Victory is the unity of our whole country, and we must properly celebrate its 75th anniversary,” the Head of the region said.
