Sulfate ions excess was detected in two rivers after leakage from plant in Bashkiria

After a leakage from the POLIEF plant, a slight excess in a number of indicators was found in water samples from the Izyak and Ufimka Rivers, Rospotrebnadzor for Bashkiria reports.
From October 10 to October 13, fourteen water samples were taken from the Kymyshla, Ufa, Izyak, Belaya, Potekha, Bolshoi Izyak Rivers, as well as 11 water samples from centralized water supply systems.
According to the results of laboratory studies, all samples of drinking water meet the requirements of SanPiN in terms of the following items: benzene, polyphosphates, total mineralization, petroleum products, ammonia and ammonium ion, sulfates, acetaldehyde, butyl acetate, dibutyl phthalate, dimethyl terephthalate, dioctyl phthalate, methanol, methyl acetate, ethylene.
Four water samples do not comply with the standard. In the water of the Izyak and Ufimka Rivers, the content of sulfate ions was slightly exceeded, TASS specified in the press service of Rospotrebnadzor.
Soil samples are also examined in the territory of POLIEF and beyond it. Monitoring continues at the industrial waste spillage site.
