Parents may fined for smoking of their children in Russia

UFA, 10 October 2019. /Bashinform News Agency/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/.
In Russia, they may begin to impose fines on parents whose minor children smoke. The government is preparing a draft law. It will affect not only parents but also other legal representatives of smoking teenagers.
The proposal was put forward by the Ministry of the Interior (MIA). This is evidenced by the materials of the protocol of the meeting of the government commission for the prevention of crime on the website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, RIA Novosti reports. What kind of fines can be imposed on parents of smoking children are not specified.
Bills punishing parents for smoking children were repeatedly submitted to the State Duma. They did not receive government support and were revoked by their authors.
Earlier, Bashinform News Agency reported that since October 1, new fire safety rules began to operate in Russia. They prohibit the use of open fire on balconies and loggias of apartments, in living rooms of hostels and hotel rooms. Violators face punishment in the form of a warning or a fine of up to three thousand rubles - or up to five thousand rubles if a fire occurs due to a violation of the rules.
