Ufa resident Anton Sazonov is approaching endpoint of his cycling trip to Europe

The bicycle traveler from Ufa, Anton Sazonov, is approaching the endpoint of his great journey across Europe - to Portugal. The other day, he completed a series of meetings with Spanish schoolchildren in Barcelona and Valencia. Then, on his way to Cape Roca, he will visit several schools in Portugal and transfer them about 100 letters from Russian schoolchildren.

Recall, on June 12, he left Ufa on a bicycle. As part of the Children of the World expedition, Sazonov combined cycling across Europe from east to west with the delivery of paper letters from Russian schoolchildren to peers from Europe. In total, at the time of the start of the journey, Anton Sazonov had with him more than 500 letters from children from Bashkiria, Izhevsk, Samara, and Saratov.

The Children of the World expedition goes through 11 countries; it is planned to overcome more than 6000 kilometers completely by bicycle and finish it in Portugal at Cape Roca in October. The project is implemented under the auspices of UNESCO with the support of the Bashkir branch of the Russian Geographical Society, funded by a grant from the President of the Russian Federation.

In each city, Anton Sazonov meets with the Russian-speaking community. In Spain, Russian schools work as electives. After meetings in Russian-speaking associations, becoming interested in the format, Anton Sazonov was invited to Spanish schools.

“Paper letters go with a bang as this is an exotic format for children. They read them with interest, there is a desire to write answers. I think most schools in Spain will write response letters”, said the traveler.

Altogether, the cyclist has covered more than 5500 km from the day of launch from Ufa on June 12, no other transport has been used. He has to go over 1000 km more.

The trip to Europe is the second stage of the expedition, the first passed in 2018 through Central and Southeast Asia and finished on the island of Bali.
