ARVI epidemic threshold is exceeded by 15% in Bashkiria

UFA, 1 October 2019. /Bashinform News Agency/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/.
Currently, a seasonal increase in the incidence of acute respiratory infections is recorded in the territory of Bashkortostan, but the flu has not yet been registered, Galina Permina the deputy director of the Rospotrebnadzor Office for the Republic of Bashkortostan stated at a press conference in Bashinform News Agency.
ARVI epidemic threshold is exceeded by 15%. About 20 thousand people had non-influenza infections over the republic. In Ufa, only last week, 6 thousand cases of acute respiratory viral infections were registered.
Traditionally, in September, when the academic year starts, the incidence rate goes up, Permina informs. According to her, seasonal growth should stop shortly.
“Last year, 6% of the republic’s population fell ill with influenza, there was an epidemic of moderate intensity. This year we expect the incidence rate of the same range. We expect a flu epidemic from January to March”.
Since September 4, a flue vaccination campaign is launched in the republic. More than 18% of the republic’s population — more than 754 thousand people, of whom almost 170 thousand were children, were vaccinated against influenza. Sovigripp vaccines for children, Flu-M for adults, were purchased at the expense of the federal budget.
