On August 26, the Ufa International Airport hosted a grand opening of the Aircraft Repair Center for regional and short-haul aircraft.
The new facility was created at a reconstructed hangar and transferred to the UTair group of companies on a rental basis. It will carry out maintenance and repair of An-24, An-26, An-74, Yak-42 aircraft and their modifications. The opening of the enterprise allowed creating 156 new jobs.
The center is equipped with a technical diagnostics and non-destructive testing laboratory, an aviation and radio-electronic equipment laboratory, as well as the necessary ground handling facilities, which allow performing all types of operational and regular maintenance of these types of aircraft.
As noted by the Ufa Airport CEO, Alexander Andreev, for many years, UTair Airlines had been a leader in terms of traffic at Ufa Airport.
“Today, the share of flights on domestic airlines, bypassing Moscow, is more than 50%, of which more than half are operated by UTair. Our cooperation allowed us to make the Ufa airport a regional hub connecting Siberia and the western part of the country. The opening of the Aircraft Repair Center is an important stage in the development of both enterprises. For our part, this event will lead to an increase in key production indicators. Now, in addition to B737-500 aircraft undergoing repair and maintenance at the repair and maintenance center located at the airport and operating for more than five years, we will accept regional and short-range domestic aircraft for repair too”.
Ufa International Airport JSC is a modern aviation complex capable of accommodating all types of aircraft. Ufa International Airport is the first regional airport in Russia that has confirmed its compliance with ISAGO (IATA Safety Audit for Ground Operations) production standards. The airport services are used by more than 40 Russian and foreign airlines; the airport has two runways with taxiways and two terminals.
