International mathematical center will be launched at Bashkir State University

UFA, 22 August 2019. /Bashinform News Agency/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/.
Bashkir State University in collaboration with two Russian universities - Kazan (Volga) Federal University and S.P. Korolev Samara National Research University will open the International Mathematical Center of the Volga Federal District. Universities signed an agreement on creating a consortium to work on the project and prepared documents for participation in the competition.
The opening of world-class mathematical centers in Russia is one of the points of the national project “Science”. The Ministry of Education and Science plans to create at least four such centers at universities and research institutes by the end of 2020. The main tasks that they will help to solve are conducting breakthrough basic research and involving as many young scientists and university teachers as possible in these studies.
Now the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation is conducting a competitive selection for the provision of grants for the creation of mathematical centers. The initiators of the creation of the IMC of the Volga Federal District are counting on the success of their application because the project allows combining efforts, experience, fixed assets, intellectual property, financial and organizational capabilities of three large universities at once.
According to representatives of universities, the creation of the center will allow solving scientific problems that are at the forefront of science, forming a core of researchers, scientific schools and teams, united by a common system of views, interests, and traditions. The center plans to develop and implement educational and research programs (including international ones), develop the mobility of young scientists, conduct international scientific events, and attract leading scientists from Russia and foreign countries.
