Ufa doctor shared with colleagues specific features of abdominal aortic endoprosthetics

For two days, the head of the X-ray diagnostic and treatment department, Ph.D. Timur Hafizov held a master class at the Republican Cardiology Center for colleagues from St. Petersburg, Chelyabinsk, Orenburg, Tomsk, Khanty-Mansiysk and Cheboksary. The doctor shared the specific features of abdominal aortic endoprosthetic surgery. Similar operations have been carried out in Ufa for eight years, but fixation began to be used very recently.

“The operated patients differ from the previous ones in that their aneurysmal neck is not optimal for fixation. We used a device to fix the endoprosthesis to the walls of the aorta. This prevents its sinking-down. Patients with this anatomical structure are about 10-12 percent of the total number of patients with an aneurysm in our region, ”Timur Hafizov explained.

On the second day of the workshop, these cases were examined in detail, and prospects for the development of endovascular surgery were discussed.
