Radiy Khabirov: All republican schools will transfer to "five-day" week in Bashkiria since September 1

Since September 1, all schools in Bashkortostan will switch to a five-day form of education. The Head of the republic, Radiy Khabirov, said this today during the "Education Hour" session. According to him, the curriculum will remain the same. Most importantly, teachers' salaries will not decrease but will remain at the same level. According to the head of the region, sports sections and cultural institutions should change their working schedules so that children have more opportunities to go in for sports at the weekend, to visit museums and theaters.

At the third parent forum, which was held in Ufa in May, its participants announced their suggestions for thematic Saturdays in schools, after their transfer to a five-day form of education. In particular, the ideas of family hiking or ecological Saturday were voiced, when you can tell children about separate garbage collection, save natural resources, instill in them love for animals and pets. During the cultural Saturday, students can have trips to theaters or museums, arrange literature parties, where you can study the works by Bashkir writers. Another option stated by the parent community was ethnic-Saturday, during which you can hold school and interschool interethnic Sabantuys, bring parents and children to master classes based on their interests. “Healthy Saturday” could be devoted to lessons on stress tolerance, psychology, healthy eating, and a healthy lifestyle. Parents also believe that there must be a “Patriotic Saturday”, which can be devoted to meetings with veterans of the Great Patriotic War and various kinds of campaigns.

Total, eight thematic Saturdays out of 32 are supposed to be held during the school year. The head of the region believes that it is necessary to think carefully about the topics so that they will be interesting for schoolchildren.
