2020 will be Year of Memory and Glory in Russia

The upcoming 2020 year will be the Year of Memory and Glory in Russia. The decree was signed by President Vladimir Putin.

“In order to preserve the historical memory and to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, I hereby resolve to hold the Year of Memory and Glory in the Russian Federation in 2020,” the document says.

The Russian organizing committee "Victory" will supervise the organization of the Year of Memory and Glory. The Head of the Presidential Chief Anton Vaino will coordinate the work of the organizing committee.

Within a month, the government must approve a plan of major events.

The decree came into force on the date of signing - July 8.
