Most Russians do not support transition to four-day working week

UFA, 24 June 2019. /Bashinform News Agency/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/.
48% of Russian people in the survey do not support the idea of switching to a four-day working week, announced by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev. In the course of the survey, VCIOM experts found out that 29% of respondents approved the reduction of the working week, 17% did not care, 6% found it difficult to answer.
According to Valery Fedorov, VCIOM CEO, the transition to a four-day working week is more often supported by residents of Moscow, St. Petersburg and million-plus cities (34%). And in most cases, concerns are expressed because of the likely reduction in income.
“Proponents of a shorter working week, on the contrary, expect to use the freed up time more productively and improve the balance between work, leisure and personal life due to it”, explained Fedorov.
Researchers conducted the survey on June 13. The error is not more than 2.5%.
