UFA, 10 June 2019. /Bashinform News Agency, Rozaliya Valeeva/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/.
Zemfira supported the arrested reporter of Medusa, Ivan Golunov. The inscription “Freedom to Ivan Golunov” on the black background is posted on the official website of the singer.
Many media personalities have already expressed support for the journalist, including Andrei Makarevich, Boris Grebenshchikov, Konstantin Khabensky, and others.
On Monday, June 10, the three largest Russian publications, RBC, Vedomosti, and Kommersant, had the same cover, “I/We are Ivan Golunov”, and published an appeal demanding to check the legality of the police actions.
Ivan Golunov was detained in Moscow on June 6, on suspicion of attempting to sell drugs on a massive scale. His colleagues suggest that the detention may be related to his professional activities: Golunov is known for his loud investigations about the funeral business, illegal realtors. On the day of the decision on the pre-trial restrictions, several hundred people gathered at the court.
Ivan Golunov was placed under house arrest for two months - until August 7. He faces up to 20 years in prison.
The situation aroused tremendous support and solidarity in the professional community; journalists in large Russian cities, as well as abroad, held single-person protests. Ufa journalists also joined the rally: they gathered outside the MIA building in Ufa.
A march in support of Ivan Golunov is scheduled to take place in Moscow on June 12: it will begin at noon at the Chistye Prudy metro station, and will then proceed along the route: Myasnitskaya - Lubyanka - Kuznetsky Most - Stoleshnikov - Bolshaya Dmitrovka. The march will end outside the Moscow Department of the Interior Ministry building at Petrovka, 38.
