Russians will have reduced New Year holidays in 2020

UFA, 31 May 2019. /Bashinform News Agency, Galina Bakhshieva/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/.
New Year holidays in Russia will be shorter in 2020 than before and will last eight days, according to «Rossiyskaya Gazeta». It is noted that the reduction will occur due to "technical reasons".
According to the Labor Code, non-working holidays in Russia on the New Year are days from January 1 to January 6 and January 8, plus January 7 - Christmas.
In 2018 and 2019, the “New Year holidays” were increased by two days at the expense of December 30 and 31. As, last year, December 30 and 31 fell on Saturday and Sunday, they automatically joined the holidays. The year before last, Saturday, December 29, was transferred on Monday, December 31.
In 2019, the last days of December fall on Monday and Tuesday, so they will be working. Weekends January 4 and 5, falling on Saturday and Sunday, are proposed to be transferred to the May holidays.
In honor of Defender of the Fatherland Day, days off are supposed to be set from February 22 to February 24, International Women's Day from March 7 to 9, Spring and Labor Day from May 1 to 5, Victory Day from May 9 to 11, Russia Day from June 12 to 14 and National Unity Day - November 4.
The tripartite committee will consider the draft resolution on the transfer of holidays on the regulation of social and labor relations on May 31. If approved, the document will be submitted for signing to Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.
The relevant government decree is adopted annually and each time it is pre-agreed with the trade unions and employers.
