In the first quarter of this year, Bashkortostan Statistics Agency recorded a decrease in the birth rate and the death rate in the republic. The natural decline was 2404 people. Total mortality decreased from 16957 to 16366. The Minister of Health of Bashkiria Maxim Zabelin reported this at a briefing session meeting in the Government.
In January-March, 10,446 children were born in the region (1145 fewer than in the first quarter of 2018). The positive birth rate was observed only in nine districts. The measures proposed to influence the improvement of birth rate were related to reducing abortions, increasing IVF procedures, improving female health.
Causes of death remain the same. Mortality from cardiovascular diseases increased by 16%, mortality from cancer decreased by 3%, from external causes - less by 29%. However, the death rate from road accidents increased by 30% - in the first quarter, 21 more people died on the roads. Earlier, the Bashinform News Agency reported that scientists from the Institute of Strategic Studies of Bashkiria record certain features of the spread of death causes depending on the place of residence. Infections and cancer most often were observed as the death causes in cities. In villages, the most common causes of death were diseases of the respiratory, digestive, genitourinary systems and external causes.
Infant mortality has also increased: 72 babies died in January-March last year (children under the age of 1 year), 76 in the first quarter of this year. The Ministry of Health proposes to overcome the problem by fulfilling the plan of measures defined by the Healthcare national project.
The Acting Head of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov instructed to study the experience of other regions in increasing the birth rate and to analyze the data of the areas with the most complex situations. Thus, Arkhangelskoe, Alsheevo, Sterilybashevo districts became anti-leaders for cancer incidence: 279, 334, 366 people per 1000 population. More than 800 people per 1000 population suffered from cardiovascular diseases in Uchaly, Zilair, Kuyurgazy districts, and more than 900 people per 1000 in Aurgazy and Ishimbay districts.
“We need to find out the reasons”, the head of the republic instructed the Ministry of Health.
