Crack in Sibay quarry does not pose danger - State Emergencies Committee

The Republican State Committee for Emergency Situations has refuted information about the danger of a crack, which was discovered by local activists.

In particular, the topic was raised by the administrators of the group in social media “Sibay, Breathe!”. They reported that not far from the rock waste dump and the board of the Sibay quarry a deep crack was passing that represented a danger to residents of nearby houses.

“According to the Sibay branch of Uchalinsky Mining Plant, the crack has been passing along the border of the East Sibay split through the quarry since the 1990s. It is not dangerous for the residents of the city of Sibay and it is not increasing in size, ”the department explained.

Earlier, the Bashinform News Agency reported that it would be continued to flood the Sibay quarry. It was decided to flood the quarry above the level of 469 meters to prevent the development of oxidative processes. Date of the quarry re-opening will be determined in May.
