Moscow doctors will come to Ufa to examine Dmitry Bykov

A medical team of the Burdenko Neurosurgery Institute will fly to Ufa on Thursday to assess the sate of health of the writer Dmitry Bykov and determine the treatment regimen. It is reported by TASS with reference to the chief editor of the "Echo Moskvy" radio station Alexei Venediktov.

“Today, a team of doctors from Burdenko Hospital departs to Ufa. Together with their Ufa colleagues, they will determine the further course of treatment of Dmitry Bykov, ”wrote Venediktov, adding that the colleague of Bykov, head of the Novaya Gazeta Dmitry Muratov, also went to Ufa.

It is expected that doctors will hold a case conference in Ufa.

On April 16, the 51-year-old Dmitry Bykov was taken to Ufa hospital from a plane in severe condition and with impaired consciousness. Doctors suspected that Dmitry Bykov had an acute cerebrovascular accident, but it was not confirmed.

In Ufa, Dmitry Bykov was supposed to give a lecture on “Russian Anecdote as a Literary Genre” in the framework of the author’s Direct Speech project. In addition to lectures in Ufa, the next lectures of the writer in Moscow, Tallinn, and Riga are canceled.

Yesterday, Veronika Skvortsova, the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation, commissioned to arrange a telemedicine consultation with the chief external experts of the Ministry of Health on neurology, anesthesiology, and resuscitation regarding the state of the writer. According to its results, it was reported that Bykov was in a medical coma; there were no indications to transfer the patient to Moscow. The writer was connected to an artificial lung ventilation apparatus.
