The correctional facility IK-7 of the city of Meleuz assembles vehicles for export to Cuba. Fifteen convicts are involved in their production, the press service of the Federal Penitentiary Service for the Republic of Bashkortostan reports.
These vehicles are specially upgraded to the tropical conditions of the Republic of Cuba. So, there is no heater in them, air conditioners in the cab and special body are reinforced, and a special paint for the vehicle has been selected. Each car has two general compartments for 46 people. In these models there are no solitary chambers, two dry closets are installed, and also places for escort officers are provided.
“In 2017, two service vehicles of the AZ type were manufactured and delivered to the Republic of Cuba. In 2018, for the Republic of Cuba, five service vehicles of the AZ type were produced based on Kamaz 65117, for a total amount of 36 million rubles, ”said deputy head of the IK-7 Oleg Klochkov.
By order of the Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev, the vehicles left for St. Petersburg for further shipment to the port of Mariel of the Republic of Cuba.
The production of AZ type vehicles for the transportation of suspected, accused and convicted persons has been successfully operating since 2009. Since the launch of production, constant monitoring and improvement of vehicles to international standards for the transportation of inmates is conducted. The high quality of the vehicles produced was appreciated not in the Russian Federation but also abroad.
Today, the correctional facility has a possibility of manufacturing cars with an isothermal van based on the chassis Gazon Next and Kamaz, which are in great demand not only in the penitentiary system but also in the Russian market.
