Second stage of "Children of the World" international bicycle expedition is prepared to start in Ufa

UFA, 10 April 2019. /Bashinform News Agency/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/.
At the beginning of June, the second stage of the “Children of the World” international bicycle expedition starts from Ufa. This time its route will pass through Ukraine and 10 European countries. It is planned to finish it on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. The mission of the trip will remain the same - it is a delivery of letters from Russian schoolchildren to their peers abroad all over the world.
“Last year a pilot stage was implemented, I rode a bicycle from Ufa to Bali Island in Indonesia. I started, tried, got experience - I saw the demand for project ideas. I realized that it was interesting for our children and children abroad. The project has potential! In the digital age, live communication becomes especially valuable, and it was decided to continue”, said the expedition’s ideological mastermind, Anton Sazonov.
The “Children of the World” international bicycle expedition is a tool for public diplomacy. The trip is designed to contribute to solving urgent problems for today's Russia - integration into world social processes, shaping the image of a friendly, open, peace-loving country.
“This year the preparation has been qualitatively improved. The project will be implemented under the auspices of UNESCO. The co-organizer is the Committee of the Republic of Bashkortostan for UNESCO. We will rely primarily on UNESCO Associated Schools, which network includes more than ten thousand institutions around the world. The expedition will turn from a single into a team one. The journalists of one of the city's Ufa TV channels will accompany us all the way. Now it will be possible to follow the progress not only by satellite but actually online to witness all the most interesting events, including on our website. Moreover, our project goes to the federal level - along with Ufa schools, educational organizations from other regions of Russia will take part in it, ”said Anton Sazonov.
In the near future, meetings of team members with schoolchildren will take place, children will write letters, and on June 1, on Children's Day, all these letters will be handed over to the participants of the expedition for further delivery to the recipients.
On June 12, on the Day of the city and the Day of Russia, the expedition will start a five-month journey of almost 6000 kilometers from the City Council in Lenin Square in Ufa.
