Number of orphans has decreased by 1,883 in Bashkiria over past five years

In Bashkortostan, over the past five years, the number of orphans has decreased by 1,883 children, or 13%, the Children's Ombudsman for the Republic Milana Skorobogatova said.
At present, there are 12,772 orphans in the region, by 389 less compared with the past year.
In 2018, 1092 children were left without parental care.
Now, out of the total number of orphans in the republic, 91% are brought up in substitute families.
One thousand seven hundred ninety-one children are in children’s institutions. Compared with 2017, the number of inmates of orphanages, boarding schools, social shelters decreased by 324.
Now there are 16 orphanages in the region, one children's home, 35 social shelters for children and teenagers, two boarding schools.
