2900 garbage containers were purchased in Bashkiria

In Bashkiria, 2900 garbage containers were purchased and 800 container sites were prepared, the Deputy Minister of Nature Management and Ecology of Bashkortostan Niyaz Fazylov informed the Bashinform News Agency.

Every week, 450 units of equipment go to the landfills and take out 18.5 thousand tons of solid household waste. Four regional operators have begun their work.

According to the deputy minister, the residents of Bashkiria have already received the first receipts for garbage collection, and there are discrepancies in some of them. Residents can apply for clarification.

“In general, stable system operation and program implementation are expected by the end of 2019. Currently, the procurement of necessary equipment is continuing. After the snow melts, in May-June, the municipalities will start organizing container sites”, Niyaz Fazylov said.

Total, it is necessary to install about 30 thousand garbage containers and more than 13 thousand MSW accumulation sites in the municipalities of Bashkortostan.

The obligation to create and maintain waste accumulation sites from January 1, 2019 is legislatively assigned to local governments. For the formation of a full-fledged infrastructure throughout the territory of the republic, the administrations of municipal districts have formed the so-called “data sheets” of readiness for the transition to a new system for the MSW treatment.

There are 35 MSW landfills, 14 waste sorting complexes, four installations for the disposal of mercury-containing waste, two waste paper processing plants and two tire recycling plants in the republic for collecting, transporting, processing, recycling, neutralizing, and disposing of solid municipal waste.

On the territory of Bashkiria, about 150 enterprises provide services in the field of waste management.
