It is planned to launch "Zemsky Journalist" project in Russia

UFA, 6 March 2019. /Bashinform News Agency, Rozaliya Valeeva/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/.
For the first time in Russia, the “Zemsky Journalist” project will be implemented. The initiator of the idea is the Ulyanovsk Governor Sergey Morozov, who proposed introducing and financially supporting the profession of a rural journalist similarly to a rural doctor and teacher. This is reported on the website of the Union of Journalists of Russia.
“If we succeed with this, then by 2022, any journalist, after graduating from the university, if he/she wishes, will be able to work and live in the rural area of the Ulyanovsk region. He will be paid resettlement benefits. The journalist will be able to work in the district newspapers, which are now being transformed, becoming multimedia media. They need specialists there; websites are created. Shortly, a young specialist who moved to work in the countryside, as well as a rural doctor or teacher, will be able to receive a lump sum of 1 million rubles and large social benefits, ”said Sergey Morozov.
Thus, already this year, by the personal order of the Governor of the Ulyanovsk region Sergey Morozov, changes will be made to the regional law on the support of specialists in rural areas, and young journalists will receive the same lump sum as the doctors, medical assistants, and teachers.
