Rostekhnadzor checks Sibay UGOK branch for industrial safety

The Rostekhnadzor (Federal Service for Environmental, Technological and Nuclear Oversight of Russia) specialists check the state of industrial safety in the Sibay branch of UGOK (Uchalinky Mining Plant). The head of the Mining Supervision Department of the Rostekhnadzor, Alexander Filatov, said that at 2 pm on February 21, officials had begun a comprehensive, expanded inspection of industrial safety at the Sibay branch of UGOK, which would last 30 days.

The decision to conduct the inspection was made on February 20 at an extended meeting at the central office of the supervisory service in connection with harmful emissions resulting from the oxidative process of copper-zinc pyrite ores in the depleted pit.

The day before, a meeting was held with the participation of the head of administration of Sibay Rustem Afzalov, the Deputy Chief of Staff of Head of Bashkortostan Rinat Bashirov, the head of the Rostekhnadzor Mining Supervision Department Alexander Filatov, the technical director of UGOK JSC Ilyas Akhmedyanov and the Director of the Sibay branch of UGOK Yaudat Bikkinov. The participants noted that the situation with the quarry was quite extraordinary. Therefore, it is important to ensure control by experienced mining specialists and scientists at every stage of work on the elimination of oxidation spots. On February 27, a representative of the Institute for Problems of Integrated Exploitation of the Mineral Resources of the Russian Academy of Sciences will arrive in the city of Sibay.
