Russian Ecological Operator will coordinate regional waste management operators

On February 19, the Acting Head of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov took part in a videoconference on the transition to a new system of solid municipal waste management, which was held by Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.

The Prime Minister noted that a public environmental company “Russian Ecological Operator” had been created, which would coordinate the actions of regional waste management operators.

“The general task is not only to restructure the industry, but also to prevent a sharp and unreasonable increase in fees for garbage collection. This matter should be specially monitored, including, of course, by the Federal Anti-Monopoly Service. Some regions have already established preferential rates for pensioners, the disabled, large families, I mean a whole number of our country areas. This is a good practice. I would ask the governors to pay attention to these examples, ”said Dmitry Medvedev.

Also, the Chairman of the Russian Government signed a decree on keeping the rate for negative environmental impact at the level of 2018 until 2023. According to him, it will reduce tariffs for the population.

Earlier, the Bashinform News Agency reported that the Acting Head of Bashkiria, Radiy Khabirov, at the weekly briefing session, spoke out against raising tariffs for garbage collection.
