Ufa doctors sewed hand to Beloretsk resident

Ufa surgeons stitched the cut off hand back to a resident of Beloretsk. The surgery was successful, now the doctors promise to return mobility to the hand, the Bashkortostan State TV and Radio Broadcasting Company reports.

The reeler of the Beloretsk Metallurgical Combine Yugina Rytko cut half of her hand while working on the metal wire machine on November 15 last year. She was urgently delivered to Ufa Hospital No.21.

The operation lasted six hours. The surgeons using microsurgical techniques, sewed tissue, blood vessels, and nerves. Six people — traumatologists, vascular surgeons and anesthesiologists have performed a miracle. The hand survived.

The woman still has a long rehabilitation period ahead, because her arm sensitivity has not yet been restored. It may be necessary to do several more operations - to restore the nerves and to fit a prosthesis of tendons. Most likely, she will no longer be able to work in her previous position.
