Prosecutor's office will check drilling reagents plant in Sibay due to residents addressing Putin

The Ministry of Environment RB in Sibay will send to the prosecutor's office a petition to conduct an unscheduled inspection of the drilling reagents plant. The mayor of Sibay, Rustem Afzalov, announced this on his page on VKontakte social media. The check was initiated after the appeal of local residents to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"Following the results of the inspection, it is necessary to make a decision on the temporary suspension of the plant’s activities before installing filters to capture the specific odors emitted during the production, " said Afzalov.

Yesterday, the inhabitants of Sibay addressed with an open video message to Russian President Vladimir Putin with a demand to solve the environmental problems of the city.

As reported by the Bashinform News Agency, at the end of December last year, the bailiffs of Sibaysky city department of the Federal Bailiff Service Directorate closed the enterprise for 90 days, since the court found it guilty of violating the rules for protecting the atmospheric air. Carbon monoxide level was exceeded by more than four times. The management of the enterprise was ordered to eliminate the violations. On January 23, the plant resumed its work.

It is supposed that the smell, which residents continue to complain about, appears as a result of lignosulfonate drying, a product of technological processing of wood raw materials.
