Bashkortostan archaeologists launched project on medieval Muslim shrines of republic

UFA, 11 February 2019. /Bashinform News Agency, Leila Aralbaeva/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/.
Archaeologists of Bashkortostan started a project related to the medieval Muslim shrines located in the territory of the republic. It was reported at a press conference on the activities of the Ufa Institute of History, Language And Literature, by the head of the archeology department Nikita Savelyev.
“We are starting a significant project - works on medieval Muslim shrines in the territory of Bashkortostan. First of all, these are the so-called Chishminsky mausoleums. For many years, they were ignored by the scientific community, the archaeologist says. “There are other, destroyed mausoleums around the surviving ones there. Religious tourism is developed there, and I believe that our works will help to get new important information about the emergence of religious architecture here in the era of the Golden Horde. ”
The Muslim mausoleums of Huseinbek and Tura Khan in the Chishmy district and the original brick mausoleum of Bandibike in the Kugarchy district of Bashkortostan are dated the 14th - 15th centuries. The sights are objects of pilgrimage for tourists.
