Famous Canadian choreographer was presented kubyz from Bashkortostan

The famous choreographer in Canada, music teacher and popularizer of the folklore of the peoples of the world, Frans Bourke-Moreau, was presented a national musical instrument of Bashkortostan - kubyz, the Canadian Center for Tatar Culture "Miras" reported.

In September 2018, a conference of the CIOFF, the International Council for the Organization of Folklore Festivals and Folk Arts (Conseil International des Organizations de Festivals de Folklore et d'Arts Traditionnels), was held in Ufa. Canada was represented at the conference by Guy Landry, President of the Quebec Heritage Organization (Société de patrimoine d’expression du Québec). Guy Landry wanted to bring an instrument of the vargan family to Montreal to transfer it to Frans Bourke-Moreau.

“During the General Assembly of the “Quebec Heritage” organization, the musical instrument of the Bashkir culture was presented to Mrs. Bourke-Moreau, who conveys her sincere joy and gratitude to distant Ufa. The very next day, the sounds of kubyz were heard in a world culture lesson at one of the Montreal schools. Many Montreal schoolchildren will hear the instrument and learn about the distant Bashkir region from Bourke-Moreau, who gives master classes and world culture lessons as part of the state program "Artists in Schools", Gulnara Shaidullina, an activist of the Miras center, told the Bashinform News Agency.
