8.5 billion rubles are allocated to fight cancer in Bashkiria

UFA, 4 February 2019. /Bashinform News Agency, Natalia Ovcharuk/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/.
For the first time in Bashkortostan, funds allocated for anticancer drugs are three times more than in 2018. According to the chief visiting oncologist of the Ministry of Health of the Republic, the chief physician of the Republican Clinical Oncology Centre Ruslan Sultanov, this amount reached 2.5 billion rubles [allocated through the Mandatory Medical Insurance Fund].
“These funds should be ultimately sufficient to cover all primary patients with drug therapy,” said the chief oncologist of Bashkiria. “Almost 5 billion rubles will be spent on equipment, of which a quarter is the money of the republic. Also, 1.5 billion are allocated for the radiology re-equipment. These are the radiology units of the last generation”.
Three units will be replaced in the republic in 2019 and another three - until 2021, said Ruslan Sultanov at a press conference at the Bashinform News Agency. As a result, 6 billion rubles will be spent on re-equipment, and 2.5 billion on medicines.
These funds, according to the speaker, are allocated aiming at specific targets. Thus, by 2024 in Bashkortostan, the death rate from cancer should be reduced to 170 cases per 100 thousand population (in 2018 - 186). At the same time, the five-year survival rate should increase by almost 36% and early diagnosis by 8%.
Earlier, the Bashinform News Agency reported that the republic is implementing a project to build a new surgical building of the Republican Clinical Oncology Centre (cost of 600 million rubles). Commissioning is scheduled for the end of 2019. Also for six years, it is planned to create eight cancer centers in the region.
