Leonid Roshal thanked Radiy Khabirov for ban to turn maternity hospitals into private-public partnerships

Leonid Roshal, the co-chairman of the central headquarters of the All-Russia People’s Front, president of the Emergency Pediatric Surgery and Traumatology Research Institute, thanked the Acting Head of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov for his prompt response to the situation with the maternity hospital in the city of Salavat and for a ban on transferring maternity and perinatal centers to concession.

Last Thursday, at a “Health Care Hour” session, Radiy Khabirov instructed the Ministry of Health to monitor the situation at the Salavat Maternity Hospital, providing a true picture of what was happening there, and closely supervising the investor’s fulfillment of its obligations.

Under the terms of the agreement between the Government of Bashkortostan and the “Genus” company, the concessionaire undertook to reconstruct the medical facility and equip it with the necessary equipment, having invested 286.3 million rubles in the project. According to the staff of the maternity hospital, this step adversely affected the availability of medical care and the working conditions of health workers.

Earlier, representatives of the All-Russia People’s Front appealed to the head of the region with a request to take control of the existing problem with the maternity hospital in the city of Salavat. According to experts, the reorganization of obstetric aid institutions should be made very carefully, each stage should go through a wide professional and public discussion.
