Sibay authorities report slight excess of sulfur dioxide maximal permissible concentration

In Sibay, a high alert regime continues to operate due to smog. Local authorities keep the population abreast of the environmental situation. Thus, as of 10 o'clock on January 27, the results of conducted air samples showed an excess of sulfur dioxide maximal permissible concentration in 6, Gornaya Street by 2.4 times and in 46, Br. Kashirins Street, by 1.7 times. No-wind conditions are observed in the territory of the city, relative humidity is 75%.

Meanwhile, works are continued to localize a source of smoldering ore and to reduce the emission of sulfur dioxide in the quarry.

Mobile laboratories regularly take samples of atmospheric air at various parts of the city. The results of the samples are published every two hours.

Recall that in Sibay since November last year, a high-alert mode is in operation. Due to the oxidation of ore in the unexploited quarry of the local UGOK (part of the UGMK holding), there is strong pollution of air.
