Seven air-balloons have successfully flown through Ural range in Bashkiria

Seven balloons flew over the Ural mountains, landed successfully and arrived with escort teams to the base at the Berezki rest house on Yakty-Kul Lake to participate in the Samrau Air-Balloon Festival.

The start was given at 9.50 am from the Krasnousolsky resort site on January 23, which employees were the first to warmly welcome and accommodate pilots from different cities.

Weather conditions allowed travelers to move along the planned route through the Krak’s ridge and the Kryktytau ridge at Yakty-Kul Lake. The maximum flight altitude was recorded at 3000 meters, the total length of the flight was 150 kilometers, 7.5 hours long.

The professionalism and experience of the pilots allowed not only to cross the Ural mountains but also to land near the planned point at Yakty-Kul lake.

17 people managed to accomplish the flight as part of seven teams. Balloonists were accompanied by ground response teams on snowmobiles, ready to help in case of emergency. In addition, each team was accompanied by a car with additional gas cylinders, and everyone could watch the flight online due to Iridium Rockstar satellite trackers.

The Samrau Air-Balloon Festival takes place from January 24 to January 27 at Yakty-Kul Lake in the Abzelilovo district of Bashkiria. The organizers plan to simultaneously launch over 10 balloons above the lake. A light show is also planned at the festival: balloons will be highlighted to the music, said Elena Aryamnova, an employee of the Congress Bureau RB.
