There are no shortcomings and difficulties in the work of the medical team working now in the city of Sibay, the Interim Minister of Health of Bashkortostan Maxim Zabelin stated.
As reported at the "Healthcare Hour" session in the republican government, a reinforced team of doctors is working now in Sibay. It consists of 55 doctors, mostly highly-specialized. Among them there are pulmonologists, allergists, toxicologists, ophthalmologists, otolaryngologists, and others.
During their work, they have examined a total of 2,800 patients.
“Not only consultative but also diagnostic assistance is organized in Sibay. Medical teams will work at least until March 1 of this year”, said Maxim Zabelin, Interim Health Minister of Bashkortostan.
According to the head of the ministry, there is no increase in the incidence rate in Sibay compared to previous years.
“There is a routine examination of patients. They are selected for inpatient treatment, for the provision of high-tech medical care. There is no surge in the chronic diseases exacerbation due to an unfavorable environmental situation”, concluded Maxim Zabelin, who is now in Sibay.
Meanwhile, as the Bashinform News Agency correspondent reports from Sibay, a door-to-door round continues in the sanitary-protective zone of the quarry.
The forces and means of the Main Directorate of the EMERCOM of Russia for Bashkiria are on high alert.
Mobile laboratories regularly take samples of atmospheric air at various parts of the city. The results of the samples are published every two hours.
Works are continued to localize a source of ore smoldering and reduce sulfur dioxide emission in the quarry.
To inform the public on air pollution issues in Sibay, a common emergency number is operating around the clock: 112 and the “hotline” number of the Bashkir State Committee for Emergencies: (347) 244-15-75.
Recall that since November last year, a high-alert mode is in operation in Sibay. Due to the oxidation of ore in the unexploited copper mining ore of the local Mining Plant (UGOK), there is strong pollution of air.
