Works on flooding Sibay quarry will be started in 5-7 days

Works on flooding a mine in Sibay will be started in 5-7 days. This was announced today at a briefing session in the Government of Bashkortostan by the mayor of Sibay Rustem Afzalov.

The decision to flood the fires was made as a result of a joint discussion of the authorities, the Sibay branch of Uchalinsky Mining Plant (UGOK) and leading experts of four institutions - Uralmekhanobr, Maggeoexport, Uralgeoproekt and Gorny Expert.

According to the head of the city administration, the bottom of the Sibay quarry and the underground mine workings of the Novosibirsk deposits will be partially flooded. The operations will be held on floors of 469 and 549 meters. It will take 5-7 days to prepare for the work, to extract the technological equipment from the mine, to prepare the vaults of the mine for flooding. Flooding will be temporary until the endogenous processes cease. In the future, the water will be extracted from the mine.
