19 fold excess of sulfur dioxide is recorded in Sibay air

As of 12 o'clock in some streets of Sibay, the laboratories recorded a 19 fold excess of sulfur dioxide in the air. The official warning is issued by the city administration.

“It was an excess of maximum concentration limit on sulfur dioxide: Nurimanov Street, 9/1 - 19 times (9.5 mg/m); Gornyakov Avenue - Lenin Street - 4.8 times; Lenin Street – Pioneerskaya Street - 2.8 times; Salavat Yulaev Street - Matrosov Street - 10.4 times; Belov Street - Tchaikovsky Street - 2.8 times; Belov Street - Gornyakov Avenue - 2.4 times”, the document states.

Sibay residents are asked to stay indoors if possible. The should humidify the rooms, limit physical activity, drink more water and do wet cleaning, wash more often, rinse eyes, nose and mouth with clean water.

As follows from the “Handbook of Chemistry”, this indicator is almost equal to the maximum concentration of sulfur oxide in the working area (10 mg/m). It is also noted that acute poisoning is possible with an indicator of more than 60 mg/m.
