Liliya Gumerova demanded to retain regional TV support at federal expense

It is necessary to allocate the necessary amounts of funding from the federal budget to create the third digital multiplex for regional TV channels. This proposal was made by the Senator from Bashkiria Liliya Gumerova.

“Now a vigorous transition to digital broadcasting is going on in the country,” says Gumerova. “At the same time, we, the Federation Council, are consistently upholding our position so that the introduction of digital television in Russia will not damage regional TV channels. In 2020-2021, the third multiplex will be created, which should include regional TV channels. This is the main message that announced by the regions of the Russian Federation today”.

Over the past month, the working group of the Federation Council on the local TV channels preservation has achieved the following results:

• Phased transition to the digital broadcasting, and not single-step.

• Retaining local TV broadcast in subjects in analog format.

• Inclusion of a block of regional content on the air of one of the federal channels of the first multiplex.

• Free access of citizens living in areas with no digital broadcasting to the channels of the first and second multiplex via satellite TV was enshrined in legislation
