Rospotrebnadzor examined air samples for pollutants in Sibay

UFA, 16 January 2019. /Bashinform News Agency, Gulfiya Akulova/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/.
The Office of Rospotrebnadzor in the Republic of Bashkortostan reported whether the maximum allowable concentrations of pollutants in the air were exceeded in the city of Sibay.
According to the results of laboratory studies of air samples taken and examined in the period from 01.00 to 17.00 on January 13, it was established that the content of pollutants, including dihydrosulfide, sulfur dioxide in the air did not exceed the maximum permissible concentrations.
Monitoring of air quality in the city continues at nine points, including at six points at the border of the sanitary protection zone of the industrial site of the Sibay underground mine owned by JSC Uchalinsky Mining and Processing Plant, and at three monitoring points in Sibay.
The situation is under the control of the department.
As reported earlier by the Bashinform News Agency in Sibay, a high-alert mode is in effect since November last year. The strong air pollution occurred due to the oxidation of ore in the closed copper ore mine. Despite carrying out silting works to prevent the oxidation process, gas emittance continues. Citizens complain of gas pollution, smog, and unpleasant smell. Yesterday, the city was visited by the Acting Head of Bashkiria Radiy Khabirov, who held a meeting of the Commission on Emergency Situations there and gave instructions on eliminating the effects of burning, on monitoring air pollution and informing the population.
