All-Russian campaign to increase benefits for care of persons with disabilities will be held in Ufa

UFA, 3 December 2018. /Bashinform News Agency, Gulfiya Akulova/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/. The Ufa townspeople will join the All-Russian campaign #ПОДНИМИТЕПОСОБИЕЛОУ (RAISETHEBENEFIT). On December 3, residents of 16 cities of Russia, including Ufa, intend to demand an increase in the allowance for disabled people to the minimum wage at least. Pickets will be a direct appeal to the president of the country with a request to increase the allowance.

“When a disabled person (child or adult) appears in the family, most often one of the family members is forced to leave work to care for seriously ill patients. The state, in compensation for the work lost in these circumstances, pays the caregiver a benefit of 1200 rubles for an adult disabled person, 5500 rubles for child care,” says Natalya Sorg, organizer of the campaign in Ufa. “These benefits have not been indexed for more than 10 years.”

The Government, in its responses to citizens' appeals, has refused to increase this allowance, and the bill proposing its increase has been in the State Duma for almost a year, the activists emphasize.

During the pickets and rallies, signatures will be collected for the petition, which will then be submitted to the presidential administration as a resolution of the All-Russian rally.
