200th operation was performed at robotic surgery center in Ufa

UFA, 29 November 2018. /Bashinform News Agency, Alfiya Agliullina/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/. The 200th operation was performed in the robotic surgery center in Ufa. The center opened in Ufa in February of this year, since then the Da Vinci robot has been assisting surgeons of the Bashkir State Medical University clinic almost every day. A variety of surgeries is conducted by this equipment. And the doctors themselves constantly improve their skills at various master classes.

The high-tech robot surgeon worth tens of millions of rubles was developed abroad. It was originally intended for conducting operations for astronauts. The surgeon gets a 3D image of the surgical field with a 10-fold increase. The operation is performed through small punctures using micro-tools. And this means minimal blood loss and minimal trauma to the patient’s tissues.

After complex surgical interventions, patients are not discharged immediately but are sent to the rehabilitation department, where they are followed-up until complete recovery.

As the reporters of the Bashkortostan State TV and Radio Broadcasting Company were told in the Ufa Robotic Center, there are only 28 such Da Vinci robots throughout Russia. In Ufa, operations with a robot are performed for patients free of charge, due to the funds from the Mandatory Medical Insurance Fund.
