Penalties for traffic violations should be toughened - Radiy Khabirov

Today, at a briefing session in the Government RB, the Acting Head of the region Radiy Khabirov drew attention to the need to take measures to reduce the number of road accidents and reduce mortality in car accidents. “There is nothing like the threat of imminent punishment for violating traffic rules to bring a person to his senses”, said the Acting Head of the region.

Radiy Khabirov instructed the State Committee RB for Transport and Road Facilities to take control of areas of accidents concentration in the republic. There are 140 of them in the territory of Bashkortostan, seven of them are on federal roads, the rest are on republican ones.

“Each section should have a datasheet, it is necessary to think over measures regarding the roadway, on lighting, barrier fences, thermoplastic marking, photo, and video cameras. Practice shows that if you start to take preventive measures in such areas, the number of accidents decreases”, the Acting Head of the region noted.

As the chief state inspectorate RB Dinar Gilmutdinov marked in his report, in the first 10 months of the current year, 3585 people died in the republic, 380 road accidents took place with the participation of children, 15 children died. More than 1000 accidents were registered, to which unsatisfactory road conditions contributed to.
