Beekeeping and Apitherapy Research Center claims 1 million rubles for damage to reputation from Krasnoyarsk experts

The Bashkir Research Center for Apiculture and Apitherapy in a judicial proceeding claims from the State Regional Center for Standardization, Metrology and Testing in the Krasnoyarsk Territory 1 million rubles for damage to business reputation.

The lawsuit was filed with the Arbitration Court of the Krasnoyarsk Territory in connection with the publication on the official website of the Information Center discrediting the quality of the “Bashkir Honey” brand product.

As reported by the Bashinform News Agency, the Information Center experts compiled a rating of samples of honey purchased at fairs and stores of Krasnoyarsk retail chains. The products were examined in the regional veterinary laboratory by physicochemical parameters, by mass fraction of sucrose, water, diastatic number, the mass fraction of proline. According to the examination data, the last, 13th place was taken by natural Bashkir honey produced by the State Budgetary Institution “Bashkir Beekeeping and Apitherapy Research Center”.

According to the claimant, the defendant posted the information that was not true and was published without in-depth disclosure of information. The claimant assumes that the experts investigated the counterfeit goods, which were often sold in the territory of the Russian Federation and other countries under the “Bashkir Honey” name.

As follows from the claim statement, the business reputation of the Bashkir Beekeeping and Apitherapy Research Center has been injured and “when reading this information, the consumer has an idea of the poor quality of the “Bashkir Honey” brand product”.

The institution requires the Information Center to refute the information and pay 1 million rubles in compensation for reputational damage.

The preliminary court hearing on the suit is scheduled for December 5th.

In connection with this and other cases compromising the quality of Bashkir honey, the Acting Head of Bashkiria, Radiy Khabirov, instructed the Ministry of Agriculture to form a system protecting the reputation of the regional main brand.
