New Year and Victory Day - most popular holidays among Russians

UFA, 31 October 2018. /Bashinform News Agency, Elmira Sabirova/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/. New Year and Victory Day - these two holidays are the most favorite among Russians. According to a study conducted by experts of the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM), they are celebrated by 96% and 95% of the country's population. The top five important holidays included International Women's Day (88%), Defender's Day (84%) and Easter (82%).
Christmas takes the sixth place (77%), followed by May 1 (63%) and Russia Day (54%). Eid al-Adha is celebrated only by 10% of respondents.
The study results also showed that young people aged from 18 to 24 years more actively celebrate the Spring and Labor Day (72% vs. 56% among those celebrating aged 25 to 34), the Day of Russia (66% vs. 50%, respectively), Valentine's Day (54% against 19% of those aged 45 and older), Halloween (13% against 2% of those aged 60 and older), St. Patrick's Day (8% against 1% of those aged 45 to 59) ).
The survey was conducted among 1,6 thousand Russians aged 18 years by telephone interview. The maximum error with a probability of 95% does not exceed 2.5%.
The Bashinform News Agency has previously published a holiday schedule for 2019 in connection with the holidays, approved by the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Protection RB.
