Bashkiria needs 2230 doctors

UFA, 22 October 2018. /Bashinform News Agency, Gulfiya Akulova/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/. In Bashkiria, the shortage of doctors amounts to 2,230 people. This was announced by Acting Minister of Health RB Raphael Yapparov at a briefing session in the Government of the region.

Availability of doctors in the region is below the Russian average by 8%. The problem of staffing is particularly pressing in rural areas, where the availability of doctors is 2.5 times lower than in urban areas. There are not enough specialists in the Khaibullino, Iglino, Davlekanovo, Belokatay and Mishkino districts of the republic. Thus, 21 doctors are in demand in Belokatay district. The issue of retaining medical personnel is very relevant in this regard. Doctors going for the rural districts under the “Zemsky Doctor” program, after five years of work in rural hospitals, return to the cities. Last year, 27 district doctors left the Iglino district. The main reasons are low wages and lack of housing. According to Rafael Yapparov, only 200 specialists were able to improve their living conditions with the help of district administrations.

Acting Head of Bashkortostan instructed all heads of administrations to take control of the situation.

“You should encourage people to stay, you have to do this. This is your personal responsibility”, he said.
