Several more geoparks may appear in Bashkortostan in addition to Yangan-Tau - Rustem Khamitov

UFA, 19 September 2018. /Bashinform News Agency/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/. UNESCO experts highly estimated a bid of Bashkortostan to include the geopark "Yangan-Tau" in its global network. This was stated at a press-conference in TASS by the Head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov.

"The World Council for Geological Parks decided to include the territory of our "Yangan-Tau" geological park in its list. In turn, we should accomplish this place, take care of it, make it comfortable for tourists", the Head of the Republic said.

Thus, "Yangan-Tau" will become the first geopark of Russia included in the global network of UNESCO.

"We have two or three more sites, which may also receive a status of a geopark. This will allow us to become a flagship of the Russian Federation in terms of geological parks development," said the Head of Bashkortostan. "Small business is emerging near the geoparks - guides, service sector, and infrastructure. We will continue this work. We are already trending, we are number one in the Russian Federation".
